OUR GOALS & COMMITMENTS
It is an essential part of our business to act in an ecologically, socially and economically responsible manner, as the fashion industry makes a significant contribution to global environmental pollution. This is why we feel obliged to continuously review our activities and decisions. What can we do to guarantee transparent and conscious interaction?
An “expensive” garment first becomes a truly luxury object when you as a customer are aware what it stands for! It acquires value through the careful handling of the materials, the environment and people.
This is what we call” MINDFUL LUXURY “.
And your opinion is part of this! This is why we welcome your feedback, and look forward to your suggestions for improvement and your criticism. Please get in touch.
Many of our fabrics and materials (buttons, braids, etc.) comply with the rigorous Öko-Tex regulations.
Under the ÖKO-TEX mark companies are certified whose production conditions meet the highest social and environmental requirements, and so are products that are classified as harmless to all aspects of health.
OUR PROCESSING AND MATERIAL STANDARDS
We ensure that all materials used by us comply with the European REACH regulation in order to guarantee a high level of protection for human health and the environment.
REACH means that all chemicals used in clothing (dyes, treatments, etc.) must be registered and approved. Substances of concern are banned.
Most of our cashmere quality materials are obtained from the firm of Cariaggi – an established cashmere-spinning mill in the small town of Cagli in Umbria, Italy. Cariaggi is a yarn producer specializing in fine cashmere fibres. The raw material, the fine hair of the cashmere goat, originates from Inner Mongolia and is expertly dyed and spun in the company workshops.
Cariaggi has been accompanying us for the last 30 years and we have 100% confidence in the outstanding quality of the firm’s products, which has received several certifications:
– ISO 14001 certification – environmental system
– Ohsas 18001 Certification – Health and Safety System
– ITF certification for production traceability
– Certification for 100% renewable energies.
Naturally, all Cariaggi yarns and processing comply also with the European REACH regulations and the eco-toxicological requirements for clothing of the “National Chamber of Italian Fashion”.
Second are our suppliers Todd & Duncan. Founded in 1867 by William Todd and James Duncan, the spinning mill is located on the shores of Loch Leven in Scotland. Since its foundation it has evolved into a market leader in the manufacturing of high-quality cashmere yarns. The company’s secret of success is that the yarns are washed in water taken from the Loch, which is particularly soft and so does not harm the fibre. The fibres are dyed and treated in the firm’s own dye houses in accordance with the Scottish tradition of this ancient craft.
It is no secret that we cannot avoid packaging. In order not to harm the environment, we follow our notion of “mindful luxury”. We are proud to have found in www.biobiene.com a trustworthy partner who has set himself the goal of a world without plastic waste. For your order we only use packaging material made of renewable raw materials that are completely biodegradable and compostable or can be reused.
Each product is wrapped in a transparent foil bag to protect it from moisture and other environmental influences. These ECOMARINE bags are an absolute novelty and completely dissolve in freshwater and seawater, so no toxic waste ends up in our oceans. The bags can also be composted, however, it is best to re-use them to store your cherished clothes and so keep them safely protected from moths.
We respect the environment also with our boxes – made of environmentally friendly corrugated cardboard they can be reused or easily recycled.
Our document bags: They are made of 100% paper and with an environmentally friendly adhesive, meaning they too are easy to recycle.
UPS offers the opportunity to offset carbon dioxide emissions generated by the transportation of packages in a fair manner: for every ton of CO2 a package produces in its journey from us to you, an equivalent amount of CO2 is saved through a verified emission reduction project anywhere in the world. By participating in UPS’s CO2-neutral program, we support international projects that help mitigate the climate impact of shipping.
ZANDER (= PIKE-PERCH)
If you bear the name of one of the largest Indigenous sweet-water predator fish and you work in an industry that robs the planet of its natural resources, and contributes to the greatest water pollution in the world, you should try to swim against the tide!
We make every effort to manufacture
and deliver our products as carefully
and transparently as possible.
The flow of waste, including plastics and chemicals, to the rivers, lakes and oceans across the globe threatens the existence of sea-life and countless marine species, but also human beings.According to recent research, waste equivalent of a truckload enters our oceans every minute, every day, all year long. In addition, human intervention such as hunting whales and large fish or habitual over-fishing of even protected species make the situation worse.
We would like to contribute to the support of people who are committed to protecting the oceans. Therefore for each item we sell, we are donating 3,- Euro. Thus we would like to support the preservation and protection of the natural environment and our namesakes!
If you would like to learn more about this project or make a donation, Please contact us directly.
